BI Analyst- Procurement

Role Summary

This role is responsible for supporting the Procurement department with concise, high-quality information to identify and address business opportunities and threats. This analyst position will gather data from multiple sources and from mining data and industry trends, deliver detailed interpretation of data that impacts the strategy of the procurement team. This role will leverage data to help the business unit leaders and managers make intelligent, strategic procurement decisions.

 

Specific Tasks
  • Work directly with business unit leaders, sales leaders, assigned contracts, suppliers and procurement team members to provide specific data to help with cost reduction solutions and help leaders identify opportunities for smarter spend
  • Participate in discussions with suppliers (for RFPs, etc.) and interact with the marketplace to gather and normalize feedback into data that has direct P/L and business implications
  • Create reports that will allow business leaders to assess the sourcing of products and services within the given category, vendor and product improvement opportunities and cost reduction projects
  • Interact with stakeholders across BUs and the Procurement Department to create strategic implementation and measure results
  • Support the Category Manager through analysis of category spend data ($750MM spend within Procurement) to identify critical suppliers and cost saving opportunities
  • Participate in market research initiatives to remain current on changing product trends, commodity price movements and legislative requirements
  • Examine key supplier and contract performance measurement data to mitigate risk and drive continuous improvement
  • Make full use of technology such as e-procurement tools and processes

Skills & Abilities
  • Strong, professional verbal and written communication skills internally (organizational stakeholders) and externally (vendors/suppliers)
  • Prior experience and passion for leveraging data to drive business impact
  • Extensive computer skills and experience with reporting/Business Intelligence tools to compile multiple sources of information and create data-driven insights
  • Positive relationship-building skills as a member of project teams and proven success working within a team setting
  • Initiative to participate in strategic projects
  • Ability to share ideas, provide feedback to team members, participate in projects for the overall success of the Procurement Department
  • Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of business analyst experience, preferably within a procurement team
  • Beginner to intermediate statistical knowledge and intuition, ideally utilizing A/B or multivariate testing (or related analytics)
  • Experience with reporting/Business Intelligence tools preferred
  • Familiarity with BI Data Modeling concepts
  • Demonstrated analytical and commercial skills
  • Experience with ERP and extract/apply data sets
  • Experience with the full Microsoft Office Suite tools
  • Bachelor’ s degree in business administration, mathematics, economics or related field
